At Martinsville, you can find beef in more places than just the hot dog! Tempers flare, cars collide, and emotions run high. It’s like putting 40 guys who are mad at each other into the same elevator. Here, we recap some of our favorite Martinsville incidents in the recent past. Fond memories all around!

KURT BUSCH VS. BRAD KESELOWSKI: What if I told you there was an incident in 2014 involving Kurt Busch and another driver and one of them gave the other the middle finger for like an entire lap? And then, what if I told you the bird-giver was NOT Kurt? Yep, it was Brad. Martinsville is a short, complicated track so kudos to Brad for driving one-handed.

CHASE ELLIOTT VS. DENNY HAMLIN: If you never saw this one from 2017, how is the weather by that rock under which you live? Denny spun Chase, who was in the lead, and words were exchanged. Thankfully the two have put the incident behind them. After all, it was like 10,000 races ago.

NOAH GRAGSON VS. HIS LUNCH: Noah Gragson is an animated young fellow, and when he won the truck race in 2017, he was excited, but not nearly as much as his own esophagus.

KEVIN HARVICK VS. TY DILLON: There were a lot of moving parts to this particular incident during the fall truck race in 2013. Contact. Drivers about to leave their current team for another. Comments regarding silverware. Google the incident for all the details. But the most important thing to know is someone on Ty Dillon’s crew threw a hammer at Kevin Harvick’s truck on pit road. If you didn’t want to Google it before, you do now.

KEVIN HARVICK VS. KYLE BUSCH: Had this been a few years earlier, this might have blown up into something more severe. It didn’t. It was merely Kevin Harvick’s last-ditch attempt to earn a spot in the Championship 4 at Phoenix the following week. He thought it might work. It didn’t. ‘Twas the day we invented the phrase “Kyle-ateral Damage.”

CLINT BOWYER VS. US REALLY TRYING TO TO UGLY CRY: Not only did Clint Bowyer manage to snap a 190-race winless streak in 2018, but a photographer captured this moment where Clint was running to greet his family on the frontstretch. Who knew that the guy known for owning a flamethrower and employing a copious use of the poop emoji could make us sob like the end of a “This Is Us” episode?

MATT KENSETH VS. CARL EDWARDS: This was a weird one. Carl Edwards and Matt Kenseth were teammates at Roush Fenway Racing in 2007, but not, like, really close teammates. After a race at Martinsville in 2007, Edwards, upset about something or other, confronted Kenseth who was mid-interview. He then decimated Matt Kenseth psychologically with the dreaded “made you flinch” tactic.

KYLE BUSCH VS. THIS FAN’S MIND: Kyle Busch won at Martinsville in 2016 and decided to mark the occasion by completely BLOWING THIS FAN’S MIND. Kyle and wife Samantha noticed a Kyle fan next to them in post-race traffic, and decided to greet her and make her COMPLETELY flip out. It was awesome. A level of spontaneous enthusiasm usually reserved for K-Pop stans seeing a member of BTS in public.

JOEY LOGANO VS. DENNY HAMLIN: This incident after the Martinsville race in 2019 really jeopardized the friendship between Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin which has never actually existed ever. You’ll recall this was the one where Denny did his infamous impression of Logano afterwards. How good was the impression? Frank Caliendo did not feel threatened.
